Growing Blueberries for Fun or Profit

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

By Barbara Adams Blueberries are well known for fresh eating, pies, jams, jellies, syrups, juice, and baked goods such as blueberry muffins, pancakes and waffles. But, they are also baked into squash dishes and coffee cakes. Backyard growers and small farms prosper by offering blueberries as a u-pick crop, and by creating one-of-a-kind value-added blueberry products such as pancake mixes, or blueberry flavored organic yogurt and ice cream. For home use, fresh blueberries freeze well unwashed, dry and unsweetened. People love the way they dont stick to each other after being frozen like other berries, and pour out of their freezer containers like frosty marbles. My children loved to freeze blueberries in small individual freezer bags, then grab a bag throughout the coming months to snack on. It is said that in blueberry season, bears will eat nothing else except ripe blueberries, and that they will travel up to fifteen miles per day on an empty stomach to find a blueberry patch. Both bears and birds have long loved the blueberry, leading one small blueberry farm in Southampton, Massachusetts to name itself Bird Haven Blueberry Farm. They protect their berries from the birds, and successfully sell blueberries as U-pick, fresh-picked, frozen, and in jellies, jams and pies. Because blueberries grow from the south to the north, most locations can find varieties that suit their home garden or farm. It is recommended that at least two varieties, regardless of ripening time, are grown for cross-pollination and better fruit production. Yet, there are also a few reports of single species producing well. Today, home gardeners and small farmers can purchase highbush varieties developed from the commercial industry selected for large size, ease of picking and productivity. Older varieties, however, can also be found. Rubel is believed to be one of the first wild blueberries selected from the wild for commercial breeding, and can still be purchased and grown. It is reportedly higher in anti-oxidants than other commercial blueberries. The European bilberry and even wild huckleberries can also be purchased for growing in gardens. While the plant varieties vary greatly in size, the average gardener can expect from five to 15 pounds of berries each growing season. The bushes require loose, acid soil suggested from pH 4.0 to 5.5, as would be found in their native woodland edge and meadow dwellings. The soil needs to have constant gentle moisture, never too soggy and wet during the growing season, and not allowed to dry out, especially their first year. Their roots are very shallow, so cultivation should be gentle. Some species offer fiery red or orange foliage in the fall, with lovely bark color in winter. There are also evergreen varieties and dwarf varieties. They can live up to 60 years, so choose the location wisely. And dont forget to put up a No Bears sign. Getting Married in February, March, April or May?

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

By Emily Tanner Getting married in late winter, early Spring is the most perfect time of the year. This is because we associate this time with new life, new love and happiness. February is the month most associated with romance and naturally lends itself to a Valentines style wedding. No doubt your theme will be teaming with romance and peppered with red roses and diamantes! Go for a romantic style dress with a fur shrug, as it can still be quite chilly in February. In fact, we often get snow at this time of the year, so consider your bridal transport carefully! To keep the day romantic, bridesmaid dresses can be 50s style prom dresses with coloured sashes around their waists. Have their hair tied in buns with pure white feathers that you could also introduce to floral arrangements to soften the red tones. March is traditionally associated with Spring so you can confidently base your theme on this. Daffodils and tulips are perfect for this time of year and any spring like colours are guaranteed to be a big hit. As Easter is approaching you could give your guests mini Easter eggs as favours how cute! Bridesmaid dresses will look fabulous in lemon yellows, lilacs, pale greens and baby pinks. If you are planning to be an April bride, you are more likely to get some sunshine on your big day. The temperatures always start to creep up in April and plenty of fresh flowers are in bloom. Any light colours would be perfect for a wedding at this time of year but neutral tones, golds, creams, soft pinks and peaches are probably the best choices. You can pretty much have the pick of the bunch when it comes to seasonal flowers for this time of year too! May marks the start of the wedding season and between now and September are always the most popular calendar dates for marriages. By May, the hope is that the weather is on the up and rain showers are few and far between. A spring shower is still a possibility though so the purchase of a light umbrella might not be a bad idea. Bridal gowns for this time of year may be slightly lighter and made from softer fabrics. Off the shoulder gowns and sleeveless dresses are perfectly acceptable for May brides. Whichever spring month you choose to marry in, you are guaranteed to have a romantic wedding filled with much hopefulness and a bright future together. As Spring is associated with new life and love, this truly is an ideal time to say your vows. His Seed Begging Bread

Monday, August 27th, 2007

By Anthony Smith There are many verses in scripture that give the believer a sense of safety and security. These verses in Psalms is especially prominent in the life of a Christian. Our belief values are somewhat based on our belief that God will take care of us, threw the tough times. But this is not nor should it be our primary reason to believe. Our belief system begins with the Birth, Death, Resurrection and Assention of Jesus, as Both Lord and Christ, the Son of God. We start out believing that Jesus is the Son of God and it grows from there to believe as we are taught. When a Christian is in trouble, there is no need to call upon man to help first, but rather we are commanded by Christ to call upon the name of the Lord. Psa 37:25-32; I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken(Deserted; left; abandoned.), nor his seed begging bread. There is no time, that the believers in Christ, are left alone. The Devourer is on the prowl, looking for a young lamb to destroy. Can you ever think of a time when you saw a Christian going hungry? I mean really hungry? Hunger is something different to different people. The Bible tells us that what ever condition that we find ourselves in, there with be content. There with is stating that if you are in a state of riches, be content with what you have, if you find yourself poor, be content, if you find yourself with a set of cloths and a piece of bread, be content. Our contentment with our present state is pivotal to being rewarded by God. We are there by showing that we are willing to accept the state or destiny that God has designed for us. If we cannot be content with food and clothing we are unable to accept or control greater riches or position in this life. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. When we become believers in Christ, we are separated from the world , become a new creature and have been sealed to the everlasting Father. Now if your friends and family can give you food, clothing and shelter, weather being a Christian or not, how much more do you think God can give and how much more that He loves you? The Love of God is endless, as far as His Children is concerned. his seed is blessed. This is what we must believe. Our time of total acceptance of God and His word is now, today, while today is still called today. Are we the seed of God, the seed of Abraham? Then we must start acting as Kings and Priest, we must become the children of God. Being faithful, if only with a few things, accepting our Son-ship and being totally dependent upon God. (Mat 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.) Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore. In 2nd Co 8:2-4, we see that poverty is not uncommon within the Church, as far back as the Churches at Macedonia, we see that God knew of their state and they were content with it. This is where their power was centered. The blessings of God start coming when we begin 1. believing and 2. When we become content with what He supply’s to us. How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves; Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints. Let me ask you a question.Does your coffers must need to be full before you can say that you are blessed by God? Lets read, 1Ti 6:5-8, and understand; Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. You argue that, There are others that have plenty and we have nothing, is this a show of love from the one we believe in? My answer is what Jesus stated to Peter, one of the other disciples, and what God told the world; John 21:21-22; Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. what is that to thee?Deu 29:29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law. The things that are ours, are the insight and understanding, not of what takes place to many who believe, but rather as to what the scriptures mean. Many things that we do not understand, belong to God and to Him only. We cannot say to the one who created us,What are you doing? Job 33:11-14; He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths. Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.(God allows many things to afflict His Children, a sort of Chastisement, that takes a believer father than they ever imagined to go. Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters. For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. And this last verse explains it all; Dan 4:35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever. The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment. The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide. The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. Don’t be dismayed by the state that you find yourself. God is all knowing and all caring. He know what His children need and desire. He know when one is hungry or saddened by events that are taking place around them. When hunger comes, manna is sent, when one is naked, cloths appear when one is down hearted, one is sent to assure joy in their life. Remember that, The Joy of the Lord is my Strength. So have Joy in the Lord and He will take care of you. ars.2Co 8:2 - in: 1Th_1:6, 1Th_2:14, 1Th_3:3, 1Th_3:4 the abundance: Neh_8:10-12; Act_2:45, Act_2:46 their deep: Mar_12:42-44; Luk_21:1-4; Jam_2:5; Rev_2:9 the riches: 2Co_6:10, 2Co_9:11, 2Co_9:13; Deu_15:4; Pro_11:25; Isa_32:5-8 liberality: Gr. simplicity, 2Co_1:12; Rom_12:8Psa 37:25 - I have: Psa_71:9, Psa_71:18; Job_32:6, Job_32:7; Act_21:16; Phm_1:8, Phm_1:9 yet: Psa_37:28, Psa_94:14; Jos_1:5; 1Sa_12:22; Isa_13:16; 2Co_4:9; Heb_12:5, Heb_12:6; Heb_13:5 nor his seed: Psa_25:13, Psa_59:15, Psa_109:10, Psa_112:2; Gen_17:7; Job_15:23; Pro_13:22; Luk_1:53-55Mat 25:21 - Well: 2Ch_31:20,2Ch_31:21; Luk_16:10; Rom_2:29; 1Co_4:5; 2Co_5:9, 2Co_10:18; 1Pe_1:7 I will: Mat_25:34-40,Mat_25:46, Mat_10:40-42, Mat_24:47; Luk_12:44, Luk_22:28-30; Rev_2:10,Rev_2:26-28, Rev_3:21; Rev_21:7 enter: Mat_25:23; Psa_16:10,Psa_16:11; Joh_12:26, Joh_14:3, Joh_17:24; Phi_1:23; 2Ti_2:12; Heb_12:2; 1Pe_1:8; Rev_7:17 Temple of Spirit & Truth MinistriesA.R.Smith Ministrieshttp://www.ourchurch.com/member/a/arsmithsermons/ Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Anthony_Smith http://EzineArticles.com/?His-Seed-Begging-Bread&id=285083 buying make propecia any online your finasteride through prescription my online they 6best must price only for them propecia a online into cheap each finasteride you buy which

An Introduction To Marriage

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

By Damian Sofsian Many people who choose to live their life by themselves experience tremendous loneliness. Humans are social animals and it is a generic need to be a part of society, bond and marry. Marriage is a commitment where couples share the events in their partner’s life until separation. Apart from its many psychological aspects, marriage is a legal agreement that allows couples to live together, engage in sexual activity, coexist, share and benefit from mutual income and property and procreate. In ancient times, the act of marriage was different from what it is today. People did not have the liberty to choose a partner or dissolve a marriage in case of incompatibility or mutual problems. Marriage was the act that permitted the birth of children and protected bloodlines so each family could produce an heir who inherited family property. Though most customs and traditions have been carried forward, the ideology behind marriage has changed. The modern society is more liberal and allows couples to be married for love and the desire to live their lives with each other. People celebrate marriage in different ways depending upon the religion, culture and place of origin and local customs. Different religious communities follow varying ceremonies, customs and tradition. Most marriage ceremonies are performed in the presence of a religious leader who officiates the event in a place of worship. Lately, the trend of couples choosing destination weddings or opting for unique marriage ceremonies has become popular. This includes marriages underwater, in parks and on roller coasters, yachts, beaches and hot air balloons. Some couples choose court marriages, also known as a civil ceremony under the supervision of a registrar. Regardless of the music, wedding clothes or feasts, the essence of marriage is similar all over the world. Choosing Your Bonsai Containers

Friday, August 24th, 2007

By Lee Dobbins The elements contained in a work of art need to have a certain harmony and cohesiveness. Since a bonsai tree is a work of art the bonsai containers chosen to house your trees must be purchased with the thought of coordinating with the type and style of tree. when selecting a bonsai container you should consider the color and the material as well as the shape and size. The pot should be selected to match with the particular tree that will be in it. There is no hard and fast rule to this but go with a sense of symmetry and also consider bonsai tradition when selecting your container. Be sure to take into consideration will the tree will look like when pruned and make sure that the container gives a sense of balance to the overall design. In addition to aesthetics you must think about the practical side of bonsai containers: In addition to balancing your work of art to be pleasing to the eye, the container must also physically balance the weight of the tree in the soil. One size can be easily tipped over if the pot is too small for the tree so be sure that you get a pot that is having enough to withstand a little tippiness or you might find your tree laying on the ground. The style of your container also needs to be managed with the style of your bonsai. A cascading bonsai design like a kengi or han-kengi has a trunk and branch is that the below the rim of the container. This is to look like a tree that is growing off the side of a cliff or hanging over under heavy snowfall. Therefore, you want a pot that is wide and can hold a lot of soil to offset the hanging of the treaty so it does not tip over. In addition to sell considerations of course well make sure that your container is large enough for your bonsai roots to spread out and grow. A bonsai should be transplanted every two years so you want to make sure that when you put it in its new container is enough room for two years of growth. Its also important that your bonsai container have the right drainage so sure that the plot as a whole the bottom along with a mesh screen to allow water to escape. Also make sure the screen is not too small as it can become clogged or not too big as then it can allow soil to leak out. Its important that your container have a tray underneath to catch the overflow of water. Over watering or under watering your bonsai can easily kill it and in fact is attributed to most bonsai deaths. Therefore, having appropriate drainage and a tray to catch the extra water will allow water to drain out and then some to be soaked back if the soil is too dry. Its important, however, to make sure that the tray is not always in a puddle of water as this may contribute to root rot of your bonsai. The size of container you need is affected by the species of bonsai tree. Trees that flower and bear fruit need more water and can tolerate wet conditions better but conifers like the White Pine prefer to have the soil dry out between watering. It may take a little experience and a good design eye to pick out the best bonsai container, but luckily there are many good examples out there to help guide you. Remember, some bonsai trees can live as long as 200 years so you should be able to find many examples of beautiful trees and their containers to stimulate your imagination. Weight Loss - Low Fat Cooking Mistakes

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

By Brad Howard There are many benefits to low fat cooking. However, one needs to define “low fat” before you can really get a handle on what you are trying to accomplish. Low Fat Cooking For Weight Loss For most people, low fat means low total fat. Yet, by classifying low fat this way, people start to lose the benefits of the healthy fats. For those that don’t know, not all fat is create equal. In fact, your body actually needs certain fats to function properly. So, this being the case, why would you ever want to get rid of these types of fats. You don’t. Even saturated fats from meats have their place. Testosterone production actually decreases when people neglect to get any saturated fats in their diet. Now, this doesn’t mean that you need to go overboard. If anything, the fats you really need to watch out for are the “trans” fats. Go ahead and knock these out of your diet A.S.A.P. Your trans fats are going to come from your man-made products. So, with that being the case, why not just go ahead and knock out anything from your diet that isn’t natural? Weight loss and low fat cooking definitely go hand in hand. But, don’t throw out the baby with the bath water and get rid of all of the fats in your diet all at once. If you only choose to eat and cook with all natural products, this should take care of itself. Of course, this just seems to be such an easy fix that it can’t possibly work. The only thing you can do is try, your body will thank you later. Brad Howard’s MindOverBodyMatter.com delves into the “meat and potatoes” of all of the misinformation generated by the diet and fitness industry today. Funerals - Japanese Buddhist Customs - Part 1

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By Michael Russell In this first of a two part series we’re going to discuss Japanese Buddhist funeral customs. What most people don’t realize, even those familiar with Buddhism, is that Japanese Buddhist funeral customs differ from region to region. There is no one custom that encompasses all of Buddhism. Therefore, a generic description will not be possible. The religion of the deceased also plays a role in the burial ceremony. Also the person’s age and social status, as well as economic situation, affect how they are buried. Even though the services themselves are different based on the above factors, there are some customs that are the same or similar throughout. What follows is a brief list of the common elements to a Buddhist funeral. First there is the washing of the body. The body is washed at the hospital and then the body openings are stuffed with cotton. In ancient times the family washed the body but now that is done by the hospital. The body is then dressed in a suit or kimono and a cosmetic specialist will apply makeup. From there the body is taken to the place where the wake is to be held. Then there is choosing the arrangements for the service. The day is chosen as well as the type of alter that is to be used. Food that will be fed to the guests is also decided on. Gifts are also chosen to give to those who come to the service. Of course a casket is also chosen for the deceased to be buried in. The body is then prepared for the service. Just prior, it is put in dry ice at the mortuary, The next of kin then stay with the body until it is time for the service. People from the mortuary then come and place the body in the casket. One of the unusual items put in the casket with the deceased is money to pay for the toll across the River of the 3 Hells. This is of course symbolic. Also, any items that the deceased was fond of during life are put in the casket. The body is then placed in front of the main altar if the ceremony is to take place at the mortuary hall. If the wake is to take place at home then the body is placed in front of the family altar. The next step is to set the home up so that friends of the family can pay their respects. A table is usually set up at the entrance of the home or hall. A few people are usually stationed to greet the people who come to pay their respects. Each person signs his or her name in the registry book. The guests then present their condolence money, called koden. This is placed in a special envelope that has a thin black and white ribbon wrapped around it. The amount depends on the relationship of the person to the deceased. The amount is written on the outside of the envelope. Meanwhile, at the altar, incense is burned and a cushion is placed so that guests can kneel in front of the alter and pay their respects. The visitor then pays their respects to the family and then goes into another room where food is served. In our last part of this series we’ll continue with the wake, the funeral and the cremation. ——————————————————- Michael Russell Your Independent guide to Funerals ——————————————————- Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Michael_Russell http://EzineArticles.com/?Funerals—Japanese-Buddhist-Customs—Part-1&id=148089 order what fluconazole did overnight being fluconazole also buy or discount how diflucan because purchase could fluconazole then rx on on very line which

Weight Loss Tips You Can Count On

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By Christain Cullen Weight loss tips seem to be available just about anywhere on the web, but not all of them are as effective as they could be. In fact, for many, losing weight is something that is more personal rather than just chemical or even mechanical. Weight loss does happen and it can happen for you too. Use these tips to help you to find success in the weight loss you seek to make happen. Understand why you havent been successful with weight loss in the past. For many, there is a worry or a fear that keeps them from making weight loss happen. For others, a physical condition limits their ability. Determine the best way to lose weight without depriving yourself. Those that cut out whole food groups or those that dont eat enough are going to be the most likely to fail in their weight loss. Thats because the body always craves what it doesnt have. Take the time to work with someone on weight loss. This is a great tip that will allow more than one person to benefit and it will help you both be much more successful in your weight loss goals. Spend five minutes per day thinking about the good things that you do. This tip is in place because we all need to feel good about ourselves and weight loss is one of the hardest tasks for doing that. Being positive helps with motivation. Add exercise into the weight loss goal. While you can just use your own diet to lose the weight, it wont be nearly as effective as if you take the time to add in exercise too. Any diet can be enhanced with this. These tips and others can be quite helpful in helping you to find true success in your weight loss goals. Whats more is that youll be motivated to keep on going. Resume Objectives: How Do You Know if Resume Objectives Are Right for You?

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

By Kathleen MacNaughton Some experts say NEVER bother with resume objectives. While others say they should be an essential element onevery resume. So, how do you know who is right? The simple answer is… no one is absolutely right.Your decision on whether to use resume objectives willdepend on your circumstances, job search goals, andinsome casesthe person who reviews your resume. We can make recommendations, but youll have to makeyour own choice, based on your individual situation andpreferences. But first, lets try to get a betterunderstanding of the 2 different schools of thought onresume objectives… THE NEGATIVE VIEWPOINT Ask anyone who does not believe in using job objectiveson resumes why, and theyll tell you its becauseresume objectives are so often self-serving. In otherwords, they say what you want, but they usually fail tosay how this is relevant to the employer. You see, thecompany that hires you is more interested in thepotential benefits youll bring to the organization, not how they can help you achieve your goals. Another problem is that a narrowly stated resumeobjective can be limiting. The company may not evenconsider you for a position youd love if you haveclearly stated in your objective that youre onlyinterested in one type of job. Finally, most resume objectives are so vague as to bemeaningless. Why waste valuable resume real estate withsomething that will not help (and may harm) your questtowards obtaining the coveted interview? ON THE OTHER HAND… There are many resume writing experts who passionatelybelieve in using resume objectives. They cite the factthat employers want to be able to tell in just a fewseconds what job you want to do for the company andwhat skills you bring to the table. There is also a school of thought that says the lack ofa written resume objective translates into a jobapplicant who doesnt really know what he or she wants. Also, if you have a long or diverse job history, resumeobjectives can help sharpen the focus of your resume. This is also true if you are trying to switch to acareer that is not strongly supported by yourexperience. If you do decide to use a resume objective, though, youmust make sure that it is not self-serving or toolimiting, and that it is uniquely stated. Make itspecific and work to reflect the employersperspective, not your own. Demonstrate the value youllbring to the organization. ONE MORE OPTION An alternative to using resumeobjectives is to substitute one of the following at thetop of your resume: * Power statement. This is a summarization in 1sentence of your most notable skills andaccomplishments, items that are sure to arouse interestin a prospective employer. For example, “Highly-motivated, competent, and organized AdministrativeSupport professional with a proven track record ofteambuilding communications, resourceful problem-solving, and technical expertise.” * Profile or Career Summary. This is similar to a powerstatement, but might be 3 or 4 lines/1 to 2 sentences. It could even be bullet points. But the main intent isto highlight your main career accomplishments to date. In the end, whether or not to use resume objectives isa highly personalized decision. But if you do use one, keep in mind that employers are mainly interested inwhat you can do for them. So be sure that your resumeobjective is employer- oriented and results-focused. Dothis well, and youll be on your way to your nextinterview! A mobile user todays wants a handset which is not only feature rich but one which also looks great. Motorola too has realized this and is coming with handsets which are sleek, stylish and are studded with latest features. The latest mobile phone Motorola V3i is the updated version of RAZR V3. The manufacturer has simply tried to cash-on the popular design of V3. The appearance of Motorola V3i has been kept similar to its predecessor but there have been changes inside to make it perform well. There is the same 14mm case, chemically-etched keypads, cool black lighting, 262 colour TFT screen and so on except the colours which have been changed. For an onlooker it might be difficult to find the difference between RAZR V3 and Motorola V3i until he flip opens the handset. Go inside and you will find a low resolution camera being replaced with a 1.23-megapixel camera with a full-screen view finder, zoom, video record and playback. Good news for music lovers! A music player has been enabled in the mobile phone which can store up to 150 tracks with a swappable memory card. The handset do comes with iTunes music management software but people in UK might have to wait sometime before it is available here. The off-line mode allows you to listen music or do other things(except making or receiving calls) even in flights. With SCREEN3 technology get zero-click access to news, sports and entertainment. The Motorola V3i also offers MP3 ringtones, Java games, Bluetooth wireless connectivity and quad-band capability for global roaming. All in a handset which is high on design and has features to help you do more than mere converse.
